Since the release of his debut solo album Thousand Yard Stare
in 2023, Conor Miley has carved out a distinctive place within the Irish music scene. Known for blending indie rock, contemporary folk and subtle electronic textures, Miley has built a reputation for creating expansive, emotionally charged songs that linger long after the final note.
Before stepping out on his own, Miley was best known as a founding member and principal songwriter of Irish indie-folk favourites We Raise Bears. The band became a familiar name on the Irish festival circuit, appearing at major events including Electric Picnic, Other Voices and Hard Working Class Heroes. Following the band's split, Miley pursued a solo path, but his passion for musicians creating music together in real time never disappeared.

Speaking about the song, Miley explained:
Peepshow was written over a number of weeks through constant drafting and redrafting of the lyrics. Musically, it was built around a dirgy bass figure that gradually increases in intensity before breaking down and rebuilding toward its final climax. The arrangement mirrors the emotional escalation within the lyrics, allowing tension to accumulate and release in waves.
That sense of mounting pressure is one of the song's greatest strengths. The music and lyrics work together seamlessly, creating an atmosphere that feels both personal and politically relevant.
A Stellar Team Behind the Single
Peepshow
also benefits from a strong creative team. The track was engineered by Christian Best, whose impressive body of work includes collaborations with acclaimed Irish artists such as Mick Flannery. The production captures the energy of a live performance while maintaining the clarity needed for the song's gradual dynamic shifts.
Accompanying the release is a live studio video filmed at Monique Studios. Directed through the lens of cinematographer Michael-David McKernan, known for his work with Elaine Mai and Daithí, the video highlights the physical connection between musicians performing together in the same space.
