StayIs the Emotional Pop Anthem You Didn’t Know You Needed
Singer-songwriter Stacey Dineen is carving out her place in modern pop with a sound that balances raw emotion and infectious energy. Drawing from both classic and contemporary pop influences, she creates heartbreak anthems that hit deep - but still make you want to move.
Her voice is instantly recognizable: intimate and breathy one moment, then soaring and powerful the next. Combined with her sharp, fast-paced songwriting style, it’s clear she’s not just another emerging artist - she’s one to watch in the Irish pop scene.
Stacey first stepped into the spotlight at just 19, exploring everything from music to modeling and television. Even with that range, music has always been her core passion.
After introducing herself with her 2022 debut single Ghost of You
, followed by Over It
and Dizzy
, she’s now back with a renewed sense of purpose - and her latest release, Stay, feels like a defining moment.
Stayblends shimmering pop production with raw emotion
At its core, Stay
is a polished pop anthem. Think shimmering synths, layered harmonies, and a steady, driving beat that carries the track forward. It’s the kind of song that feels equally at home in headphones late at night or blasting through speakers on a long drive.
What really elevates it, though, is Stacey’s vocal delivery. The verses feel close and vulnerable, almost like she’s letting you in on a private thought. Then the chorus hits - and suddenly everything opens up into something bold, emotional, and impossible to ignore.
Stay: love, clarity, and letting go
Written nearly a year after a major breakup, Stay captures that strange space where hindsight finally kicks in. It’s about recognizing a relationship for what it really was - long after it’s over.
There’s a push and pull throughout the song: knowing someone isn’t right for you, but still feeling that pull to hold on. It’s messy, honest, and deeply relatable.
As Stacey explains:
I wrote it around the same time I was healing fully from that relationship… I saw an old photo of us and realised that I looked so happy, but it wasn't all smiles. It was that night I wrote Stay.
The track means a lot to me… it changed my entire outlook on love… It’s a reminder that you don’t always stay in that stomach sick feeling.
That emotional clarity is exactly what gives the song its weight.
Stay
didn’t come together overnight. The song began in Limerick at Studio 68 with producer Patrick O’Donnell, before evolving further in Cork alongside Gary Keane.
After years of development and refinement, the final version was mixed and mastered in London by Jay Jacobs - bringing a polished, layered finish that matches the song’s emotional depth.
With Stay
, Stacey Dineen proves she knows exactly how to turn personal experience into something universally powerful. It’s emotional without being heavy, catchy without feeling shallow - a balance that’s harder to achieve than it sounds.
If this track is any indication of what’s next, she’s not just back - she’s just getting started.
The single, Stay, is available through all streaming platforms.
