Conor Furlong drops dreamy new single ahead of latest album

Music Review | 8th Sept, 2025 Conor Furlong Conor Furlong

Since 2019, Conor Furlong been quietly but consistently dropping albums, six of them in fact, all entirely written and produced by himself. That’s no small feat. Now, Conor is gearing up for his next big chapter with a brand-new album, A Twist Of Fate, landing on September 26th, 2025.

To whet our appetites, he’s just released teaser single, I’m Not The Only One.

The track starts off delicate and understated before building into something much bigger, an atmospheric indie epic laced with lush harmonies and a real sense of space. It’s one of those songs that creeps up on you, building layer by layer until you’re completely caught up in it.

Talking about the single, Conor admits even he’s not entirely sure what it’s about:

For me, this song is one of the most soulful ones I’ve written and produced. It could be about spending your life dreaming of the life you want, and then when you get it, it’s not what you thought it would be. Or it could be about wanting to escape to something better. Maybe it’s a cautionary tale. I don’t know.

Musically, though, he’s much clearer: this single sets the tone for the whole album, melodic, heartfelt, emotional, and passionate.

Conor’s inspirations don’t just come from music, either. He’s equally drawn to art and film, taking cues from the dreamlike worlds of Monet, Miro, Dali, Hundertwasser, Van Gogh, and more. He tries to capture in sound what those artists did in paint: mood, colour, and pure imagination.

Cinema plays a big role too. He’s a lifelong fan of Hitchcock, and particularly of Bernard Herrmann’s haunting score for Vertigo, not so much in style, but in raw emotional power.

If I’m Not The Only One is anything to go by, the album A Twist Of Fate, set for release on 26th Sept, 2025, looks set to be a deeply atmospheric ride.
