Live Music for Change: Whelan’s Hosts Fundraiser for the Stay Human Collective

Live Music | 2nd Sept, 2025 Stay Human Collective Stay Human Collective

Back in April, Whelan’s was buzzing with energy as some of Ireland’s finest singer-songwriters came together for a night of music and solidarity. The aim was to raise funds for the incredible Stay Human Collective. Now, they’re doing it all over again.

Mark your calendars for the 9th of October (Thursday), because Whelan’s will once again be the place to be. Expect an incredible lineup featuring Brian Brannigan (A Lazarus Soul), Nina Hynes, Alice Jago, Arrivalists, and a few more big names from the Irish music scene, plus a very special guest who’ll help sing our cares away. Hayden Cassidy will be hosting the night.

Music fans will also have the chance to pick up Stano’s moving album, Your Lies Can’t Hide the Truth, created in memory of Hind Rajab, as well as celebrate the launch of a new single by Stefan Murphy. And the best part? Every cent raised goes straight to supporting the Stay Human Collective’s work.

The Stay Human Collective began as a small emergency crowdfunding effort by a group of Irish, Italian, English, and Palestinian friends determined to get food, water, and essentials to families in Northern Gaza. But what started as an emergency response quickly grew into something much bigger: a way to bring education and hope to children living through unimaginable circumstances.

In September 2024, they opened the Stay Human School, a community-led project teaching Arabic, English, Maths, and now Science. What began with just 40 students in a damaged building has now grown to over 120 children, including around 30 who have been orphaned during the ongoing attacks and blockade.

Beyond academics, the school is a sanctuary, a space where kids can make friends, play, and begin to heal.

Artists like Sack, Mundy, Alice Jago, Novatone, The Brilliant Trees, Stefan Murphy, Kevin Gildea, Jem Mitchell, Dee Mulrooney (Growler), and Stano have all pitched in to keep the project alive. It’s a perfect example of what the Stay Human Collective is all about: community-led solutions grounded in solidarity, not charity.

So, if you love good music and believe in the power of collective action, don’t miss this night. Come for the tunes, stay for the cause, and help keep hope alive in Gaza.
