Dublin based, Dominda are a five-piece band who’ve been grabbing attention since early 2024, when they released their debut EP, Don’t Mind That
. It’s a playful, confident first drop that laid down the vibe for what they’re all about, and hinted there’s a lot more on the way.
Formed back in 2022, right in the thick of lockdowns, their early momentum was more or less paused before it even began. No gigs, no late-night jams, just a lot of pent-up energy. But once restrictions lifted, they hit the ground running, and haven’t looked back since.
Blending slick neo-funk vibes with a bit of rock 'n' roll swagger, Dominda have nailed down a sound that's totally their own. Their live shows are loud, sweaty, and bursting with energy, and you can feel all of that in their latest single, Sweet Rebecca.
Sweet Rebecca is driven by a thumping beat hypnotic beat. The guitar lines float in smoothly, creating this cool, subtle backdrop for the moody vocals to take center stage. As the track goes on, it picks up the pace a bit and leans into a rock-anthem vibe, complete with a fuzzy, gritty guitar solo that adds just the right edge.
Lyrically Sweet Rebecca
is a song about a waking up hungover after laying it all on the line with someone you've been lusting over, feeling that loneliness and embarrassment, and hoping for a brighter tomorrow once the hangover subsides.
Sweet Rebecca
was written by the whole band and recorded in Dublin late last year in the Clinic Studio.
The single, Sweet Rebecca, is available through all streaming platforms.
