Echoing the spirit of 90s alt-pop energy, Irish indie artist Eva St Maria creates pop/rock anthems packed with infectious hooks and a sense of optimism. Her songs, inspired by her roots in psychology and feminism, dig into the messy, beautiful emotions behind friendships, family bonds, and love stories that don’t quite work out.
Eva's debut single, Naïve, is the first piece of a three-song puzzle that makes up her upcoming EP, Heartache, Baby!
Think of it as a soundtrack to hope, heartbreak, and healing, all rolled into one. There’s a splash of country in the mix, too, giving her indie pop/rock sound a warm, earthy edge.
Naïve
bounces along with an upbeat tempo, jangling guitars, and a full-band backdrop, setting the stage for Eva’s clear, honest vocals. I wrote Naïve after realising I’d spent too long stuck in relationships where I was only getting breadcrumbs,
Eva explains. It’s not a heartbreak song — it’s a wake-up song.
The full EP, dropping soon, plays out like a mini movie, three chapters tracing a journey from wide-eyed beginnings to heartbreak and finally acceptance. Heartache, Baby!
isn’t just about romance, it’s a love letter to every relationship that shapes who we are.
The single, Naive, is available through all streaming platforms.
