Rock trio Krooked Tongue have been on one hell of a ride since dropping their debut EP No Vacancy Hotel
back in February 2022. Since then, the band’s momentum has been unstoppable, release after release, each one louder, sharper, and more confident than the last.
Now, with their debut studio album I Know A Place
set to drop in 2026, the lads are revving the engines again with a new single that’s pure chaos in the best way possible, Drugstore Cowboy.
Over the past year, Krooked Tongue have been popping up everywhere. Tracks like Marigold
, Let ’Em Loose
, Ember Mile
, Nothing Ever Grows
, Dog Days
, and You Don’t Need A Sun Tan
have earned them spins on national radio and nods from major music outlets. It’s safe to say the band’s gritty, groove-heavy sound is turning heads far beyond their local scene.
Their latest single, Drugstore Cowboy
, is a high-octane, fuzz-fueled riot. Think crunchy guitars, pounding drums, and choruses that demand a singalong. Lyrically, it digs into the fallout of living selfishly, chasing the high without worrying about the wreckage left behind.
Frontman Oli Rainsford describes it best:
Drugstore Cowboy is a high-octane goose chase through downtown — knocking over newsstands, bumping into passersby, tearing through the chaos of everyday life. There’s this 80’s movie called Drugstore Cowboy with Matt Dillon, and I remember soaking in its attitude and atmosphere. It’s chaotic and brash, but there’s a relatable message underneath — that divine peace in knowing your own downfalls. The song throws its arms wide open, falls backward, and trusts whatever fate decides.
Oli adds that the track actually started out as an acoustic number:
It was immediately clear it was going to end up a belting javelin of a tune. It harks back to mid-late 2000s rock — that golden age of MTV. You can almost imagine the boys from Jackass tumbling down a flight of stairs with Drugstore Cowboy blasting in the background. At its core, it’s just a helluva fun song — and sometimes, that’s enough.
Recorded and produced by long-time collaborator Josh Gallop (Sergeant Thunderhoof, Mother Vulture, Phoxjaw) at Stage 2 Studios in Bath, Drugstore Cowboy captures everything that makes Krooked Tongue such a thrilling modern rock outfit, reckless energy, self-awareness, and a serious knack for writing hooks that hit hard.
With the album I Know A Place
on the horizon, Drugstore Cowboy isn’t just another single, it’s a statement. Krooked Tongue are here for the long haul, and they’re bringing the noise.
The single, Drugstore Cowboy, is available through all streaming platforms.
