Irish newcomer Lauren Wallace releases heartfelt single

It’s been just over two months since Irish newcomer Lauren Wallace dropped her debut EP Salt Stained Lungs, and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. The final track from the project, Ghost, just landed and it’s absolutely stunning from start to finish.

At only 17, the Dublin-born singer-songwriter already feels like she’s carving out a space of her own. You can hear hints of contemporary pop favourites like Gracie Abrams and Olivia Rodrigo in her music, but there’s also something uniquely Irish in the way she tells stories, a nod to the artists, both fresh and legendary, who’ve shaped the country’s singer-songwriter scene.

Her latest release, Ghost, floats between delicate piano melodies and soft, layered harmonies, with Lauren’s haunting vocal delivery right at the centre. It’s a gentle yet powerful close to an EP that proves she’s one to keep a close eye on.

For a somewhat complicated sounding song, Ghost is probably one of the most simple things I've ever written from a thematic point of view. It's essentially about how your sense of self will always come back to save you or guide you in the end. No matter where you are right now, or whatever direction you're headed in, that person you were in the beginning and who you still are at your core will come back to you and make your experiences start to feel authentic again and everything'll be grand. That sounds dramatic (and it probably is) but I've also heard so many other lovely interpretations from my friends and family about what it means to them, so whether it's that sentiment you take from the song or a completely different one of your own, I hope it helps you a tiny bit or at least gives you something fun to listen to xx. - Lauren Wallace
