Oswald Slain unveils new single ahead of debut album

Five-piece Oswald Slain have been carving out a name for themselves with a sound that’s equal parts classic Americana soul and gritty, high-energy rock—think Neil Young and The Band sharing a whiskey with early Kings of Leon.

After turning heads with their debut five-track EP Kiss Me On The Mouth, the band is back with their latest single, Have You Got What You Came Here For?. It’s a bass-driven, keyboard-laced, danceable ride that manages to be both playful and electrifying.

The track is a true DIY effort, produced by band member Ryan Rogers (of Mumble Tide fame) alongside the group in their home studio, before getting the pro treatment from mastering wizard Jason Mitchell (who’s worked with PJ Harvey, XTC, and Big Special). The result? A fun, frenetic, tongue-in-cheek anthem inspired by their adventures touring the French Alps.

Rhii and I Spent a couple of months playing in the bars around the French Alps as a little rocky two-piece. It was really fun. Everyone was always super drunk and it was pretty full on. The crowd just wanted to sing along and dance after a day skiing on the mountain so we would play songs people knew and never really played original stuff. The movie - Saltburn - had just come out and - Murder on the Dance Floor - by Sophie Ellis Bextor was having a major resurgence. So we played a version of that quite a lot.
I wrote the lyrics to - Have You Got What You Came Here For? - in the morning after a particularly fun night playing Cavern bar in Morzine. The track came alive in the studio with Ryan laying down all the incredible bass bits and Rhii just slaying that drum part. It's angsty, rebellious and one of our favourites to play live. It has a stupidly long title and some pretty risqué lyrics. It's definitely the terrier on the upcoming album and stands out from the crowd...Hopefully in a good way. -

The latest single is just a teaser. It’s leading up to the band’s debut album, BUCKY, set to drop 24th October, 2025, complete with a limited-edition vinyl release for collectors.
