The Belief Drop New Single, and It’s a Gritty, Atmospheric Gem

Music Review | 9th August, 2025 The Belief The Belief

After kicking off 2025 with their well-received single Golden Days, Dublin band The Belief are keeping the momentum going. Their new track, Island of Dogs, offers another taste of what’s coming on their next album.

From the very first beat, Island of Dogs doesn’t mess around. Clean, bright guitar tones set the scene, quickly locking into a sharp, driving groove. Those catchy guitar lines snake around the verses, perfectly framing the raw, slightly unpolished vocals that give the song its grit. Then the chorus drops, and suddenly the whole sound opens up with lush layers of synths and smooth vocal harmonies.

The Belief is powered by brothers Mark and Neil Rooney, two stalwarts of Dublin’s music scene who’ve spent years playing gigs all over the city. Their chemistry is obvious, and with Island of Dogs, they’ve delivered something that feels both streetwise and expansive, a track that hints their upcoming album might just be something special.

At first we didn’t know what the song was about, but it has always held our attention, as it suggests a longing for peace in one form or another. Nothing is ever black or white, and Island of Dogs encapsulates this concept. We really love the chorus melody and the way the song permiates the senses. - The Belief
