The Exact Same Kid, is the musical project of Dublin-born songwriter Alex Conroy, who pulls inspiration from legends like Kurt Vile, Lou Reed, War on Drugs, and Courtney Barnett. His style is all about using everyday language to craft songs that feel honest, raw, and easy to connect with.

Feeling restless with the quiet and isolation of being a solo artist, and craving a bigger sound and more collaboration, Alex spent a few years experimenting, and out of that came The Exact Same Kid. The result? A heavier, more dynamic indie rock sound that still holds on to the storytelling heart of folk music.

Like a child is a song about reliving the freedom of your youth. It's a song about love and about driving, two things which strangely for me have always seemed to go hand in hand. I have tried to capture that particular mix of awkwardness and excitement of meeting someone new and getting to know them in the 'in between' moments, on the way to or from somewhere, lit by the soft glow of the dashboard.
