The Editor's Story: 30 Years of Music, Guitars, and Discovery

When I was 13, an older cousin handed me a cassette tape that would change everything. On one side was half of The Beatles' Blue Album, and on the other was half of the White Album. I'd never really listened to The Beatles before, but that tape opened my ears to a whole new world. Before long, I was digging into music from the '60s, '70s, '80s, and '90s, building a collection that just kept growing.

It wasn't only the music that grabbed me. I became fascinated by the stories behind the songs, the artists, and the eras they came from. I started collecting books, magazines, and newspaper articles - anything I could get my hands on. Even now, in a world dominated by videos and social media, there's nothing quite like having a good book within arm's reach.

Around the same time, I picked up a guitar, and I've barely put it down since. Over the past 30-plus years, I've played everywhere from informal folk sessions to live stages, meeting musicians from all walks of life along the way. Every one of them has brought a different perspective, style, and appreciation for music.

So why start a blog? While I've never had a huge desire to write, I've never lost the curiosity and excitement that music sparked in me all those years ago. Living in a country packed with incredible homegrown talent, I became increasingly interested in what was happening on the independent music scene. This blog is my way of sharing that passion and helping shine a spotlight on as many talented artists as possible.

If even one musician reaches a new audience because of something featured here, then it's all been worthwhile.

Rock On!
