NervousIs the Perfect Soundtrack for Summer Heartbreak
Since releasing breakthrough single Already Been Told
in 2024, JohnLuke has been steadily building momentum as one of Ireland’s most exciting emerging artists. The Galway native has carved out a signature sound that effortlessly blends pop, folk, rock, and country influences, all tied together through honest storytelling and emotionally driven songwriting.
Following the success of his 2025 debut EP, Comical Romance Vol. 1
, which earned both local and national acclaim, JohnLuke is now gearing up for the next chapter with Comical Romance Vol. 2
. Before that arrives, fans are getting an early taste of what’s to come through his latest single, Nervous.
Nervous
feels like the beginning of a summer love story - playful, awkward, emotional, and instantly relatable. The track taps into that painfully familiar moment when your friends convince you that maybe, just maybe, you actually have a shot with someone completely out of your league...only for reality to hit moments later. It’s a storyline packed with self-doubt, overthinking, and rejection, but JohnLuke turns the experience into something energetic and strangely uplifting.
Musically, Nervous
starts simply with a catchy guitar riff before gradually expanding into a full live-band experience. Fast-paced drums push the song forward with infectious momentum, while the pop-rock production gives the track a festival-ready energy. There’s a rawness to the arrangement that perfectly complements the honesty in the lyrics, creating a song that feels both personal and universal.
What continues to set JohnLuke apart is his ability to make vulnerable moments feel anthemic. His songwriting never feels overproduced or forced - instead, it captures genuine emotion with the kind of charm that connects across generations.
Speaking about the track, JohnLuke explained:
Nervous" was written straight after a night out where a friend set me up with a girl who I felt was completely out of my league only for her to reject me immediately. It explores how rejection can quickly spiral into a lack of confidence and even a sense of madness when trying to find a partner.
That authenticity is exactly what gives Nervous
its staying power. It’s catchy enough to soundtrack summer nights, but emotionally honest enough to leave a lasting impression long after the chorus fades out.
If Nervous
is anything to go by, Comical Romance Vol. 2
could be JohnLuke’s biggest project yet.
The single, Nervous, is available through all streaming platforms.
