It’s fair to say that 2026 has been something of a breakthrough year for Irish singer-songwriter Dave Lofts. Following the release of his debut EP, Holy, he has seen the grassroots momentum behind his music translate into some impressive chart success. The EP reached #1 on the Independent Irish Chart and peaked at #6 on the Irish Albums Chart, marking a major milestone for the rising indie-folk artist.

His growing profile has also been helped by a series of viral performances which have racked up millions of streams and views, further establishing Lofts as one of the more interesting names emerging from Ireland’s indie-folk scene.

Now, before heading off on an extensive autumn run of dates across Europe, Dave Lofts has returned with his latest single, Whistling On A Bottle.

This one is here to mean business. Whistling On A Bottle is for those who stick two fingers up in the air and scream, ‘come at me motherfuckers’.

There’s certainly no shortage of attitude behind those words, and that attitude comes across in the music.

Where some of Lofts’ earlier material has showcased the more vulnerable side of his songwriting, Whistling On A Bottle feels more defiant. It’s gritty, big-hearted and deliberately rough around the edges, while still retaining the emotional honesty that has helped connect his music with listeners.
