Since releasing his debut single, Talk To Me, back in 2016, Irish singer-songwriter Robert Grace has steadily grown into one of the country's most recognisable pop voices.

With more than 250 million streams and over half a billion views across platforms, Grace has certainly come a long way since those early releases. His recent breakout track Home, which features his dad Bob Grace, has picked up more than 15 million streams, while its TikTok presence has passed the 500 million mark. The track also reached the Top 40 of the UK singles sales chart.

Add more than 3.75 million TikTok followers and a recent number one on the Irish Radio Breakers Chart with Memories, and it's clear that Grace's success is about more than simply going viral.

Now, with his new album My Father's Son scheduled for release on November 6th, 2026, Grace is giving us another taste of what's to come with his latest single, Where Does It Grow?

Where Does It Grow? is a different side of Robert Grace

Having already released Home, Somebody Else and If You Were Gone from the upcoming album, Where Does It Grow? gives us another glimpse into the world Grace has created on My Father's Son.

The song immediately feels different from some of his more upbeat material.

Opening with a soft, stripped-back acoustic arrangement, Grace's vocals take centre stage from the very beginning. There's no big production trying to grab your attention here. Instead, the focus is firmly on the lyrics and the emotion behind them.

His vocal delivery is raw, personal and, importantly, doesn't feel overly polished. There's a vulnerability to the performance that works particularly well with the sparse instrumentation.

The arrival of his wife Corrine adds another layer to the track, helping Where Does It Grow? gradually develop from its intimate beginnings into an emotionally charged pop ballad.

For anyone familiar with Grace's trademark happy sad pop, this is something of a detour. The infectious energy is still there, but here it's replaced by something more reflective and heartfelt.

A family affair on My Father's Son

Family is clearly going to play a major role in My Father's Son, and that's something Grace has been very open about.

Speaking about the album, he describes it as the album I needed to make, explaining that it explores struggle, finding happiness and leaning on the people closest to you.

That family connection runs right through the record, with Grace's parents, children, wife and wider family all contributing their voices to the project.

There's also something refreshing about the way the album has been made. Grace has recorded it independently in his own studio, without the backing of a major label or a huge production budget.

In an industry increasingly obsessed with numbers, algorithms and chasing the next viral moment, there's something to be said for simply making music with the people you love.

Where Does It Grow? feels like a good example of that approach.

Rather than trying to replicate the formula that brought him success, Grace allows the song to breathe. It's quieter, more vulnerable and ultimately more human.

Final Verdict

Where Does It Grow? is Robert Grace at his most personal.

While fans of his energetic happy sad pop might find this one a little more subdued, the stripped-back approach works. The combination of acoustic instrumentation, Grace's honest vocal performance and Corrine's contribution gives the track an emotional quality that stays with you.

With My Father's Son still a couple of months away, Where Does It Grow? is another intriguing piece of the puzzle.
