Feeling It All
Since releasing his debut single When It Happens
, Smythy has carved out a distinctive place in the indie-pop scene. The stage name of singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Smyth, Smythy has built a sound rooted in lo-fi indie textures, catchy pop melodies, and the kind of hooks that make listeners want to sing along.
Following an impressive run of releases, including his five-track debut EP Where You're From
, Smythy returns with Feeling It All. The new single marks a heavier and more emotionally charged direction, tackling themes of anxiety, fear in relationships, and the struggle to communicate feelings honestly.
Feeling It All
leans into a punchier, more urgent sound than some of Smythy’s earlier material. Chugging guitar chords drive the track forward, while layers of retro synths add texture and atmosphere. Smythy’s clear, catchy vocal melody cuts through the production with ease, giving the song an immediate and memorable hook.
The arrangement builds gradually from quieter verses into a full-band chorus, where the vocals take on an anthemic quality. It is this contrast between restraint and release that gives the track much of its emotional weight, mirroring the tension at the heart of the song’s lyrics.
Speaking about the track, Smythy explains:
Feeling It All, is a track for people who struggle with expressing themselves in relationships and tend to fall into patterns of not telling their loved ones how they really feel. It’s about creating your own demons out of fear of what might be and being afraid to fully give ourselves over to those closest to us.
That sense of vulnerability comes through strongly in the song’s lyrics, making Feeling It All
relatable for anyone who has wrestled with overthinking, fear of rejection, or difficulty opening up to the people closest to them.
The track also benefits from a strong supporting cast. Smythy’s co-producer Rory Ryan contributes synth, guitar, and bass elements, helping to shape the song’s expansive indie-pop sound. Galway-based musician Jack Niland provides the drums, while mixing and mastering are handled by Atlanta-based producer Ben Etter.
Together, the team creates a polished yet energetic production that allows the emotional core of the track to shine through without losing its radio-ready appeal.
With Feeling It All
, Smythy returns to the Irish music scene with a fresh, more powerful sound. The single builds on the foundations established by his previous releases while showing a willingness to push into new emotional and sonic territory.
For fans of indie-pop with heart, atmosphere, and anthemic hooks, Feeling It All
is another strong step forward. It feels like the start of an exciting new chapter for an artist who continues to refine his craft and expand his sound.
